Catching Up…
Aloha!
Spent some time in Hawaii helping out on Heather and Jerald’s property after her father headed back home. He spent a month with them. They had a lot of projects in the works when Heather collapsed. Our friend LeighAnn joined us for a few days. We made a dent on the to-do list and hopefully took some worries off their plate.
One mission was to find new mainland homes for some of their cats as they planned to visit Oregon to potentially find additional treatment. LeighAnn was able to fly home with Lily and, through serendipitous circumstances, we had friends on the island who gifted us a day of much needed relaxation at a resort AND offered to fly cats (Betty, Cheyanne and Deja-Vu) to California. We’re in the process of finding them new homes.
Heather had a PET scan and surgery for a port on the same day in Oahu. The port is to help make chemo easier. Her PET scan showed no surprises, meaning nothing they weren’t expecting to see. So that’s good. They just didn’t have another PET scan to compare it to.
August 12th was Heather and Jerald’s 10 year wedding anniversary and Jerald’s birthday. Our friend and camp mate, Annie, flew to the Big Island to preform their vow renewal ceremony. She officiated their wedding in 2012! They shared it over Zoom as the sun set. It was so beautiful and sweet.
Burning Man is on the horizon and Heather and Jerald are planning to go! Their community is rallying to make their trip as easy as possible. We were able to borrow a friend’s VW Bus shaped yurt for their shelter! Camp mates have already stepped up to pick it up, bring it to the playa and take it home! If you’d like to help bring supplies to Burning Man for them, and here’s the link the sign up sheet for their on-playa needs.

If you’d like to help them out with their medical bills, gas (they drive back and forth to Kona a lot for doctor visits, etc.), vet bills to get the remaining cats certified to fly to Oregon, or even contribute for their trip to Burning Man - Heather really wanted to share the experience with Jerald - you can find ways to do that on the “Support” page.
